THE ORIGINAL FAMILY — With help from Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Bonnie (Kat Graham), Alaric (Matt Davis) tries to decipher the meaning behind his recent discovery. Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt) engage in a mean-girl power struggle, until Rebekah finally reveals some of her family’s ancient secrets and the violent past she shares with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies). Damon (Ian Somerhalder) tries a reckless new approach to make a breakthrough with Stefan (Paul Wesley), and they’re both surprised by an unlikely ally.
The Vampire Diaries’ executive producer Julie Plec has dropped some hints about what is to come for Matt in the show’s next instalment.
Plec explained that the episode will examine how Matt (Zach Roerig) is dealing with the supernatural happenings in Mystic Falls.
“It’s set the weekend before senior year begins and it’s senior prank night,” she told TV Line. “And of course, things go horribly wrong.”
Plec continued: “For Matt specifically it’s kind of bittersweet because there’s a sense of the life he’s lost over the two seasons of our show and it’s really hurting him. We get to explore that in a beautiful and tragic way.”
Plec also hinted that Matt could have a new romance in future episodes of the show, joking: “Matt’s gotta get laid this year.”
The Vampire Diaries airs on Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW in the US and on Tuesdays at 9pm on ITV2 in the UK.
